Radically Red Maxim Magazine AllStar Soiree

The NBA AllStar tournament stopping by in Toronto means that all the lavish parties that follow it every year also made their way to Toronto. I headed out to the Maxim Magazine AllStar Soiree with BestFan TV to take in the red carpet reception at Muzik Nightclub where I got to see some amazing artists in performance.  You can read more about the actual event and performances on BestFan here.

The Dress

Maxim is known for its’s electric presence in the editorial world with some of the most lavish and sexiest celebs on it’s covers.  I’m pretty sure that when entering the venue that there was a separate line for just the Maxim girls. Choosing a red outfit that matches that electric theme was just a no brainer. My deep red Cami Bodycon Dress from Forever21 gave me the perfect look to fit right in at the party.

The Look

I definitely changed up my traditional makeup routine which usually involves a light pink lipstick and some eyeliner. I decided to give brown lipstick a try and to my surprise it works really well on an olive complexion. Ever since I learned that Maybelline does makeup for most of the Fashion Week events in Toronto I started to open up to the idea of using a drug store brand. I've started to accumulate different colours of Maybelline's matte colours and they seem to do the job and the brand has also proven to be super economical! Going out to events all the time and trying different looks on a daily means that I go through makeup really quickly, which means purchasing pricey makeup is just not an option.

However with foundation you have to make an investment and buy the good quality stuff. Thanks to a good friend's recommendation I use the COVER FX - Natural Finish Oil Free Foundation because it works wonders on my combination skin. I pair it that with the Urban Decay - Naked Flushed for bronzer, highlighter and blush all in one, and I can even throw the compact in my purse when rushing out incase I'm in between events and can use a touch up.

I always pair my foundation with a dry powder since everything matte is just a whole lot better than shiny, that's just my personal preference. The brown lipstick I used is the Maybelline New York - Maple Kiss colour and I also used a lipliner of the same brand to give the shape. My most recent purchase is the Maybelline New York - The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette which has very warm tones with a mix of bold and nude colours that look awesome on an olive tone and the nude colour matched the lipstick and heels really well!

The Shoes

Lately I’m growing fond of pointy pencil heels because they complement a short dress really well especially if your someone with wider hips. Pumps really helps balance the outfit out and close it off nicely. Pointy heels for women are the best accessory and adding a new pair of Faux Leather Pumps in the nude colour to my wardrobe means that I can practically pair it with anything at all!
